ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Jindalee shared pathway project involved constructing:
· a 358 metre shared pathway (three metres wide) between Mount Ommaney Drive and Kooringal Drive
· a 52 metre single span bridge at the Kooringal Drive end of the project
· an additional 560 metres of pathway (2.5 metres wide) from the intersection of Curragundi Road and Mount Ommaney Drive to the existing path near the Scout Clubhouse, located in the Jindalee Boat Ramp Park.
The bridge is the largest single span aluminum bridge in Australia and is an innovative structure, with a significantly reduced environmental footprint.
The project was completed in three phases:
· phase one: pathway from Mount Ommaney Drive to Kooringal Drive
· phase two: pathway from the intersection of Curragundi Road and Mount Ommaney Drive to the existing path near the Scout Clubhouse
· phase three: bridge connecting Mount Ommaney Drive to Kooringal Drive.
Construction commenced in February 2009 and was completed in March 2010.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
· Direct pedestrian/cyclist access between Kooringal Drive and Mount Ommaney Drive.
· Improved pedestrian/cyclist access to local amenities including Indooroopilly Shopping Centre and local schools.
