ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Kedron Brook bikeway stage 3 project will complete a missing link in the Kedron Brook bikeway network between Teralba Park and Woking Street at Oxford Park to allow the increased bicycle and pedestrian traffic to travel safely.
The Kedron Brook Bikeway stage 3 project will involve:
- installing a bicycle awareness zone from the end of the existing bikeway at Teralba Park (Lansvale Street) to Blackwood Street
- constructing a 3m wide, 500m long off-road shared pathway along St Helens Road, and through St Helens Road Park to Chessom Street
- installing bicycle awareness zones along Chessom Street, Cribb Avenue and Woking Street to connect with Oxford Park
- constructing a 2m wide, 500m long pedestrian pathway along Chessom Street and Cribb Avenue and 1.2m wide pedestrian footpath along Woking Street to connect with the existing path that runs through Oxford Park.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
- Kedron Brook bikeway stage 3 project will provide the community with an attractive recreational and exercise route for weekend and early morning training
- improved access and safety for cyclists as well as pedestrians, and promotes healthy living through active lifestyle options
- once complete, the Kedron Brook bikeway will provide pedestrians and cyclists with a complete link from Mitchelton to Nundah.
IMPACTS DURING CONSTRUCTION
The project works will be carefully managed to minimise disruption to the local road network and surrounding residents and businesses, however some impacts of construction will include:
- reduced traffic speeds in local streets
- changes to traffic conditions to allow construction vehicles to access the site
- reduced kerb-side parking during construction
- noise and dust from construction activities
