The two tunnel boring machines (TBM's) that dug the Clem Jones Tunnel (CLEM7) have been taken apart and removed from the construction site in a process that took just over three months.

The TBM's will now be transported back to Germany and used on other projects.

The removal of the two machines enables fit-out crews to continue the installation of cables, jet fans, lighting and other operational and safety features into the tunnel.

The project is also showing signs of completion on the surface with the construction of the portal canopy over the Shafston Avenue on and off ramps at Kangaroo Point. The canopy is designed to filter the light and assist drivers' eyes in adjusting to the change of light as they enter and exit the tunnel.

Two similar canopies will be constructed at the Bowen Hills and Woolloongabba portals.
